A Day in the Lifestyle – June

Hello! Welcome to another beautiful day in our life. So glad you took the time today to share it with us!

Morning Routine: You can read my full morning routine here.

I did an 8fit workout this morning, followed by a 1:30 plank and this yoga video.

I also added this new Say What?! Foundation by Uoma Beauty to my makeup routine.

In short, this product is excellent. However, it took me a second to get to this conclusion.

First of all, I ordered the wrong color. Folks, this foundation comes in 51 shades. They go above and beyond to make sure you get the right shade. So it is not at all a product defect that someone (me) somehow managed to still order the wrong shade. I don’t even know sometimes. (It’s barely the wrong shade. I’m guessing I’m the only one who can tell, but still. I’m so clueless sometimes.)

Secondly, when they say this is a weightless foundation, that’s exactly what they mean. You aren’t going to feel like you have a cake face with this. This also allows for adjustable coverage. You can use less or more as you prefer.

I’m not used to that.

I’m used to the traditional consistency of every foundation I’ve used since tenth grade when I insisted on using the wrong shade of Cover Girl for a year.

The problem – the only problem – for me is that I’m used to a full coverage, so I’ll end up using more of this than I would my regular foundation just due to the thinner consistency. However, everything else about this product, including how my face looked (which is kinda the whole point) – gold. Absolutely loved it. I highly recommend, especially if you are more comfortable with a lighter coverage or usually just use a tinted moisturizer (like my perfect skin daughters).

Tea: This week, I’ve been drinking Sweet Pomegranate Green Tea and Lemon Chiffon Rooibos – both from The Tea Smith in Omaha. Yesterday was National Iced Tea Day, so we celebrated with some of the Sweet Pomegranate.

Homemaking: We have been working on our yard – but don’t drive by just to see if this is true because at the current moment, it looks like an absolute nightmare. If yards have a demolition phase, that’s us right now. We are taking things out, but are not to the putting-in-new-pretty-things phase.

My mint and basil are doing so well, though! I’ve never kept herbs alive this long! I’m so excited. To reward myself for not killing the herbs, I bought a Lemon Boy tomato plant! He has so far lived four days. Keep your fingers crossed.

Shopping: Since everyone has been raving about the adorable lemon plates at the Dollar Tree, I decided I would swing by and see if they had any left. I saw all the lemon stuff there last year and didn’t get it. I’m not a huge Dollar Tree shopper, but every once in a while, they will have something I like. I knew I should have gotten the lemon stuff last year because of course, this year’s shipment was all gone already. However, what they did have were these gummi snakes.

These are the best gummi snakes/worms/whatever EVER. Super bad for you. Not advocating for these as part of a healthy diet. But as a snack in the car on your way home from running errands? Yes. They are perfect for that.

Snack: I made some cinnamon applesauce jello. For this, you take about a quarter cup of red hot candies and two cups of water and mix them in a saucepan. Boil until the candies are dissolved. In a large bowl, combine this mixture with two small packages of Jello (I used orange, but I imagine you could probably use whatever you want). Once it’s all mixed, allow to cool for about five minutes. Then add in a 48 oz. container of applesauce and allow to chill until set. This takes longer to set than Jello usually does. Maybe it’s the applesauce not being super cold. I don’t know. Anyway, it’s a good (unhealthy) snack or lunch side.

Supper:

Monday: Red Pepper Spaghetti

Tuesday: Crockpot Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Wednesday: We went to The Tow Line in Fremont, NE.

Family Time: Monday, we went to Salt Creek Mercantile in Ashland. This shop is so cute!

Last night, as I mentioned, we took the girls to The Tow Line in Fremont for dinner. Oh my goodness, friends. I will have a post up on Two Blondes soon about our experience at this restaurant, but in short, it was absolutely a 10/10. Probably an 11/10.

Evening Routine: You can find my full evening routine here.

I would like to mention this new evening moisturizer I’ve been using. It’s called Wake Up Call by Goldfaden MD. It’s not a bad moisturizer, but I’ve found that alone, it doesn’t quite cut it. It’s designed for dry and aging skin, so basically, made just for me. I really like it, but have found that I still need my regular Clinique moisturizer with it. For $85, my opinion is that it should be able to handle the nighttime moisturizer job on its own, but that’s just my thought. If anyone else has tried it, I’d love to know your thoughts.

As far as my evening reading goes, I’m still reading Ship of Brides by Jojo Moyes.

I’m also trying to listen to more podcasts since my mind can usually only handle one book at a time and my brain needs a lot of education. In this article, you can find 8 Podcasts to Better Understand the Black Experience, which is something we should have been trying to do a long time ago.

The Last Word: If you, like me, find that your zucchini goes bad half a second after you put it in the refrigerator, here are some tips for choosing, storing, and using it.

And that’s a wrap, folks. I hope you have a beautiful day!
