A Day in the Lifestyle – September

Hello, and welcome to another lovely day in our life. I’m so glad that you took the time to join me. Yes, that quote from the Notorious RBG is directed right at Texas.

Morning Routine: You can read my full morning routine here. My highlight of the morning was this coffee mug. I love love my coffee mugs.

I also set up my planner for September.

As always, that adorable journal art is from Sheena of the Journal. She’s amazing.

You can also see that I made time for my traditional teal mani. I mean, it’s September. It’s what I do in September – get a teal mani.

Breakfast: I have been relying on eggs and English muffins this week. With a little bit of cheese. Also, a few mornings with granola, yogurt, and berries. Keeping it simple because I’ve been pretty busy with work and school.

Coffee: Boston’s Blend has their pumpkin spice for sale, so I grabbed a bag to see if it’s any good.

Homekeeping: Picked up some fall floral from Sunscape Farms.

I also tried to do the best I could with fall decor….. We don’t move into a more permanent abode until October. All my fall decorations are in storage and I’m not digging them out to put in this apartment. And I’m not buying new right now. So….I have this.

Shopping: This. I am in love. So very much in love. I just want it to be cold so I can wear this everywhere and help Rochester understand the satisfaction that comes with pairing chili and cinnamon rolls. Found this beauty at the Shelmadine Print Shop in Alliance, NE.

Lunch: We’ve been so busy that I think all I ate for lunch this week was fruit and a peanut butter sandwich.

Snack: It was National Macadamia Nut day yesterday, so of course, I had to make my amazing White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies. Sooooo amazingly good.

Drinks: This was damn good. Like soooo damn good. HUGE thanks to Sloop Brewing Co.

Family Time: As some of you may know, we took a trip back Nebraska a few weeks ago. Spent a week at Chadron State Park, went to South Dakota to see Mount Rushmore, spent a lot of time loving those Nebraska Sandhills.

Dan, Bizi and I also really enjoyed the Lamberton Conservatory in Highland Park earlier this week.

We also enjoyed our annual tradition of going apple picking every September. This year, we went to The Apple Farm in Victor, NY. We now have enough apples to can our applesauce, apple butter, apple pie filling, and apple jam! Unfortunately, my pressure canner is in storage and we got rid of both of our crock pots before moving. My plan is to a) buy a new crockpot because we’re going to have to anyway (it was time – our crockpots were old) and b) try to just use a water bath in a large pot to can everything we need for this year…. More on that later this month. (SEND ADVICE.)

And finally, we have been running 2.5 miles three times a week as a family, so that’s been fun, as well.

Supper: We decided to go to Canada one evening for supper, since Bizi had never been there. Found a fun restaurant on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, grabbed our passports, our vaccine cards, our masks and away we went. We did not take our negative COVID test results. We got kicked out of Canada!! And we were hungry, so we weren’t going to drive all the way home without dinner.

Enter Big Ditch Brewing in Buffalo, NY. Excellent food, great beer! The poutine was amazing and the Pina Colada Milkshake IPA is a must try!

Evening Routine: You can read my full evening routine here. I’ve been loving this Moisturizing Rose Hip Facial Oil Serum from Clara’s New York.

Reading: Currently, I’m reading L.A. Weather by Maria Amparo Escandon. This doesn’t come out until Tuesday, 9/7, but I was lucky enough to get an ARC. So far, I’m feeling about three stars, but who knows? It may surprise me.

August was a great reading month! I was able to finish eight books. My favorites were The Starless Sea, A Christmas Carol, The Book Binder’s Daughter, Next Year in Havana, and Under the Whispering Door.

I also just finished The Golden Hour by Beatriz Williams and LOVED IT.

The last word: This guy accidentally ordered a whole ass truck of rice and I loved every minute of it. You have to read it. It’s absolutely hilarious.

Also, my favorite cookie bakery (other than my own) has to be this one out of Corpus Christi.

And that’s a wrap, my friends. Thank you so much for joining us. Have a beautiful day!
