A Day in the Lifestyle – March

Hello, and welcome to the rundown on another typical day in our life. We are so glad you could join us.

Clearing up something confusing: I don’t have time to write these posts while we are actually doing these things. My posts are usually a day behind or, best case, written that evening. That can get kind of confusing when there are holidays. So if you’re wondering, “Does she know St. Patrick’s Day is over?” Yes, I know. There will likely be some changes to this routine at some point because I understand that giving you fun St. Patrick’s Day recipes the day after St. Patrick’s Day isn’t exactly helpful… Anyway, for now, enjoy all the fun we had yesterday!

Morning Routine: St. Patrick’s Day is my favorite holiday, so I’ve been waiting all year to wear my adorable St. Patrick’s Day shirt. However, the whole kids-aren’t-going-to-school, I’m-rarely-going-to-work-thing threw me off a bit and I ended up wearing a pair of Forever 21 leggings, a free shirt I got from running a half-marathon somewhere, and my old sweatshirt from Johns Hopkins. It wasn’t until after dinner when Dan was excited that he could pinch me that I realized I didn’t wear a stitch of green, much less my awesome St. Patrick’s Day shirt. It was devastating, to say the least.

One thing I did remember? To take my vitamins. If daily vitamins aren’t a part of your morning routine, we need to chat. I usually take a multivitamin, a hair, skin, and nails vitamin, and extra vitamin C. I’m allergic to fish oil or I would take that, as well. I recommend it.

Breakfast: I kid you not, these people I call my family wanted the same darn scrambled eggs!! I don’t know about them sometimes….

Tea: The Tea Smith continues to rock. Today, we had Paradise Peach Black Tea, which Dan got me for Valentine’s day. We usually brew it up, enjoy a cup or two while it’s hot and then use as iced tea throughout the day.

Lunch: We had leftover chili. We are also still snacking on these cupcakes from the other day.

Snack: We always enjoy Shamrock Shakes as a family on St. Patrick’s Day.

Dinner: We made a traditional Irish dinner of Corned Beef Brisket with Veggies and Irish Soda Bread. I just used a mix from Aldi for the soda bread to save time, and I have to admit, it was pretty good.

Family Time: Elie chose The Pursuit of Happyness as a family movie for the evening. I hadn’t seen this movie in over a decade. I had forgotten how good it was and what a great message it sends!

Evening Routine: Time to be honest here, I’m not feeling so hot. No, I do not have the coronavirus. But I do have a pretty bad cough, congestion, chills, and a low-grade fever. It’s pretty easily controlled with ibuprofen and DayQuil, but it’s also starting to take its toll on me. So my evening routine was pretty much do the chores (finish up any laundry that still needs folded, do dishes, clean the kitchen and just make sure the house is picked up) and lay in bed to read. Still reading The Girl Who Played with Fire, but will probably have that finished soon.

At that was it. Thank you so much for sharing our beautiful day with us! As always, please feel free to share any questions or comments you may have!
