A Day in the Lifestyle – March

Hello! And welcome to our day!

Morning Routine: Lately, I’ve been using a couple new products in my make-up routine that I thought I’d share with you. First, I tried out the It Cosmetics Your Skin but Better Primer. It’s a great primer. I definitely prefer it to the Benefit primer I used to use, but it still comes in a strong second to the Makeup Forever primer I’ve mentioned before. I’d still recommend trying it out. I’ve been pretty impressed with this entire line.

I’ve also been using the Pur Cosmetics 4-in-1 Love Your Selfie Longwear Foundation and Concealer. Before this, I was using the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream. Again, the CC cream was a great product, but definitely second to this one. I may go back to the CC cream in the summer, as it’s a lot lighter than this foundation, but for now, I’m really loving this product from Pur. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a full coverage foundation that isn’t thick or cakey.

Breakfast: We finally didn’t have scrambled eggs! We had these amazing Apple Waffles. Super easy. Not my favorite waffle recipe, but pretty good. Not typically my style to make apple anything in March, but it was better than having scrambled eggs again.

Lunch: We seriously had leftover chili again. Sorry.

Tasks: Tried to brighten up the place by putting out a little bit of spring decor.

In order to do this, I had to iron our table runners. It has been brought to my attention that most people don’t iron – especially their table runners and table cloths. If that’s you, don’t be like that. Everything looks better freshly pressed. If you struggle with ironing, here, read this.

I also had to renew my license plates – UGH. Not cheap, but she’s so worth it.

I also read Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! for the nine thousandth time. It’s the little guy’s favorite book right now. As foster parents, the goal is for their time with you to be short. That’s the best outcome. Knowing that, I’m more than happy to read this book as many times as he wants.

Snacks: We did a big thing today. We (and by we, I mostly mean Bizi) made macarons. Like, from scratch. Completely 100% from scratch. If you’ve ever done this, you know that it’s no small undertaking. And if you haven’t, you need to read the recipe so you can appreciate the hard work that goes in to each and every one.

Working: I spent some time reading some blogging and homesteading articles to learn some new things, make some improvements to the blog, and work toward our homesteading goals. I enjoyed articles from Boss Girl Bloggers, Twins Mommy, and The Humbled Homemaker.

Supper: Spaghetti. Can’t get much easier than this. Boil pasta in a pot while browning hamburger in a skillet. Drain both. Return pasta to the pot and the hamburger to the skillet. Add a jar of marinara sauce to the hamburger. (I prefer homemade spaghetti sauce, but that’s not what we did last night.) Serve with a tossed salad and garlic bread.

Family time: We watched a few episodes of The First 48 and Dan and I drank my favorite Caramel Apple Cinnamon Cocktail.

Evening Routine: Still reading The Girl Who Played with Fire. Almost done! It’s so good!

And that’s a wrap. As always, thank you so much for sharing our beautiful day. Please feel free to leave any questions or comments below.
