A Day in the Lifestyle – April

Hello! And thank you for joining me as I share with you another typical day in our life. Arguably, these times are anything but typical, but we are continuing to take things one day at a time.

Morning Routine: I have been using the Notes feature in my iPhone to keep my morning and evening routines handy. I have tried different apps and this is really what seems to work the best for me.

For this morning’s exercise, we ran 2.5 miles (still haven’t stepped it up) and then I used Sarah Beth’s most recent yoga video for a cool down.

After showering, I chose something light and cool to wear, as it’s really been warming up lately. Both of these pieces are from Stitch Fix. If you’re looking for an easy way to add some extra pieces to your wardrobe, I highly recommend Stitch Fix. I won’t say that everything I’ve gotten has been to my liking, but as my stylist learned more about my preferences, my boxes greatly improved.

I’ve also been using this Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Pallette for awhile. (I haven’t even used the new Naked one I bought a couple weeks ago because it’s so new and pretty! I think I’m scared to mess it up!). Anyway, I really love almost anything I’ve ever bought from Too Faced, and this is no exception. Highly recommended. This is the photo from their website. Mine is too well-loved to look this nice. As a ’90s girl, I think it’s all the browns that drew me in. Oh, we loved our brown eyeshadow.

Breakfast: We had buttermilk waffles. These waffles are my tried-and-true, best ever waffles. Make them now, and thank me later.

Tea: We are drinking Sweet Pomegranate Green Tea from The Tea Smith. Again, this is their picture, not mine. Isn’t it beautiful? And it tastes great, as well. Pretty much exactly how I would expect a sweet pomegranate tea to taste.

Housekeeping: Other than my typical housekeeping chores (I’m planning a post on my typical cleaning schedule, for those who are interested), one of my goals this week was to clean up my computer. I had an issue with Dropbox that has left my computer almost completely full with duplicate files. Sounds easy to fix, but actually hasn’t been. At all. So I have been working on that.

Errands: The errands I run during a pandemic are not nearly the same as the errands I ran before. This week, I donned a mask and went through a drive-thru pick-up line at the high school to get Ysabel’s senior yard sign. WHAT? In what universe is that a typical errand? The principal and other staff – also in masks – delivering yard signs to each car to commemorate our Senior class of 2020. Very little conversation and respecting social distancing. I still can’t believe that March 16 was the last day of her senior year. She was supposed to have a big breakfast with friends, Starbucks, pictures, laughter and hugs. That was supposed to be the last day of her senior year. And it was supposed to be in May. Yet, here we are.

Shopping: We ordered these adorable masks from a friend’s mom. She did such a great job!

Lunch: I have been pushing the leftovers. A lot. I made a ham the other day, so our typical lunch has been ham sandwiches, carrots with ranch, and apples with maple caramel sauce. We’ve also enjoyed leftover burgers Dan grilled the other night, as well as the leftovers of a pasta dish that I’m going to share with you below.

Family time: We went on a family picnic lunch earlier this week.

For anyone who is concerned, yes, we did follow-up with Elie regarding proper mask placement.

Snacks: Bizi cut up a delicious watermelon for everyone the other day. I haven’t had watermelon for awhile and it really hit the spot. We also made a super easy no-bake peanut butter pie and some chocolate milkshakes.

Projects: I just started working on these adorable little crochet face scrubbies for the girls and some friends. They work up super quickly, but I haven’t had a chance to actually finish one yet, so I don’t have any pictures. However, I encourage you to check out the link if you are interested in a quick and easy crochet project.

I also made up a quick door decoration for Ysabel’s graduation.

That adorable sash and blue bow came from the Senior Sashes shop on Etsy. (I gave them a five-star review because they did a great job!) The poms and red bow are from Ysa’s massive collection of cheer bows and poms. The gown isn’t her actual graduation gown – it’s one I grabbed off Amazon.

Supper: I made Kale & Tomato Tortellini. My family really likes this one and I think you all will, as well. Fairly quick, pretty easy, and it gets your family to eat kale, so….

Another thing I’ve been serving as a side dish with supper is roasted sweet potatoes. I don’t recommend them with this tortellini dish, but if you’re looking for a quick and healthy side dish, sweet potatoes are always a great idea. I slice mine and then put in a large bowl with olive oil, salt, pepper, and brown sugar. I don’t know the amounts, just use your sense. Place the seasoned sweet potatoes on a greased sheet pan and cook at 425* F for about 30 minutes. A little less if you like your veggies a little firmer.

Evening Routine: As always, I recommend tidying up the house before bed. Fold and put away any laundry that may still be in baskets or the dryer, wash dishes, shine your sinks. Also important: wash your face. Moisturize. *DO NOT SKIMP ON THE MOISTURIZER, FRIENDS.* My top recommendation is still the Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator.

As for reading, I am still working on Windfallen by Jojo Moyes. So far, this book is absolutely beautiful. It’s a little bit tedious for me to read on my phone, as I have this in an e-book, but the story makes it worth it.

And that’s a wrap, friends. Thank you so much for tagging along on another day in our life. Have a beautiful day, loves!
