A Day in the Lifestyle – December

Hello! And welcome to a typical day in our life! Today, I have some great skincare product suggestions, an amazing gingerbread bread pudding, homemade apple butter and my latest read, among other things. So glad you are here to spend the day with us!

Morning Routine: Pushing 40 means that I never wash my face in the morning – I don’t care what people say. I just don’t do it. I run a makeup wipe over it and call it toning. But no cleanser touches this face in the morning. Dry skin is what nightmares are made of. However, I never skimp on the moisturizing or the sunscreen. EVER. Currently, I’m using Murad’s Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF-30 mixed with a few drops of First Aid Ultra Repair Oat and Hemp Seed Dry Oil. For now, they seem to be working well, but I’m still looking for other options, so if you have something that is working for you, let me know!

I am also using Sarah Beth’s 10 Minute Mindful Morning Routine for my morning yoga practice this week, so I am strongly encouraging you to try it. And I’m also loving these 90 Degree by Reflex leggings. Some days, I will share an OOTD in the morning routine section. And by “some days,” I mean days where I actually wear something cute. Today, I am wearing the leggings linked above and my absolute favorite Bluebone hoodie. Truth be told, I would wear this every single day if I could.

Breakfast: We had gingerbread bread pudding for breakfast, which I am happy to report turned out amazingly. Definitely a huge hit with the family. Recipe is linked above, so if you try it out, please let me know if you liked it! I also included the recipe for a basic vanilla syrup that took it to a whole new level.

Tea: Usually my go-to for tea is the Tea Smith. Oh my goodness, they are amazing. The other day, I had a lavender iced tea that I just can’t stop craving. But, for the sake of time today, I brewed my own basic Tazo Chamomile.

Lunch: When I tell you we had peanut butter sandwiches, you may cringe. But don’t. Because we had peanut butter and apple butter sandwiches. Homemade apple butter that we tried our hands at canning the other day. I feel like it went really well. Give it a try and let me know your thoughts!

Reading: Don’t ever let a day go by without reading. Ever. Even on my busiest days, I take ten minutes before bed to read. Right now, I’m reading The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living by Meik Wiking. I’m a little over-focused on wrapping up my 2019 book list. My 2020 booklist is complete and will be posted soon. I always looking for reading partners. ALWAYS. I have a couple ideas for book clubs for next year, so if you are interested, drop me a line.

Family Time: Football, football, and more football.

We also encouraged the kiddos to step away from the screens for a little bit and work on some homemade holiday cards. We found these to be adorable.

Evening Routine: You can click the link to read more about my typical evening routine in a different post, but my favorite part of this evening’s routine was my new December printable I downloaded from Sheena of the Journal. If this doesn’t inspire you to start using a planner, call me. We’ll chat.

And that’s a wrap on our day! As always, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or love, please let me know! Have a beautiful day, my friends!
