A Day in the Lifestyle – May

Hello! And happy Memorial Day! Thank you so much for joining me on another beautiful day!

Morning Routine: You can check out my full morning routine here. Today, I ran a couple miles, and then did some yoga for a cool down.

In my makeup routine, I have been using Kokie Cosmetics Be Bright Illuminating Concealer. While this isn’t something I would have normally picked up, it’s decent for the price ($8) and in a pinch.

Breakfast: I made smoothies. For one serving, you just need one banana, 1/4 c. oats, 1 c. almond milk, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, and a tablespoon of maple syrup (the real stuff). Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until thoroughly combined.

I may have spilled my entire bag of Amish Friendship Bread starter all over the floor, so we won’t be having that for awhile.

Tea: We have been drinking Lemon Chiffon Rooibos, Fruit Lover’s Dream White Tea, and Moroccan Mint Organic Green Tea – all from the Tea Smith.

Housekeeping: We are currently repainting the entire house. Interior, only. We had the exterior done last year. But let’s just say my house is not as orderly as I would prefer.

Super Saver had strawberries on sale, so I have been preparing those to freeze. I’ve put up 12 lbs. so far and will probably end up with 15.

We have also added an little addition to our family. Meet Diamond.

Shopping: I got a bunch of new great kitchen items from Sur la Table. Super excited about these.

I also bought this book from The Next Chapter Books and Gifts in Omaha.

And thought I would grab a couple herb plants from Mulhall’s.

Drinks: We enjoyed some Zen Coffee on Saturday morning. I actually got a Mystic Lemonade. This is my all-time favorite coffee place, so I would really love for you to give them a try.

Also, we picked up Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey. Finally. We’ve been meaning to buy some and mix up some cocktails for awhile.

I recommend the following: Mix 3 oz. Skrewball and 1 oz. Bailey’s in a shaker. Pour over ice. Add 6 oz. (3/4 cup) of root beer. It’s a winner.

Projects: I made this little chunky basket, which worked up easily and was a lot of fun. This makes a great gift basket, FYI. I can’t post the gift basket yet because it is en route to the recipient, but I will post it next week.

Supper: For dinner this last week, we had Lasagna Stuffed Peppers, a chicken pesto pasta dish and the nightmare that was tornado dogs. I didn’t post any of these, but will get the Chicken Pesto Pasta dish up soon, as it was really good. For now, feel free to check out any of these recipes for dinner ideas!

Family Time: Dan and I visited Our SpecialTea over in Blair and we had a blast!

We were the only two in the shop due to social distancing requirements. There was a sanitation station set up and everything was spotless, so we felt pretty comfortable. The owner and our hostess, Jean, is delightful. We will definitely be back. Multiple times.

Thursday was National Notebook Day so I ordered some cute notebooks for the girls to enjoy, as well.

Evening Reading: You can check out my full evening routine here.

I finished Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie and started Night Music by Jojo Moyes. I gave Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress four stars on Goodreads.

And that’s a wrap on our day, friends. I hope you enjoyed it! As always, if you have a questions, please feel free to reach out!
