A Day in the Lifestyle – April

Hello, and welcome to another day in our life! We have really been enjoying all this extra time we are getting to spend together! So glad you chose to join us today!

Morning Routine: For our morning workout, we did a 2.5 mile run. I then followed this with yoga (Dan did not participate in the yoga).

For yoga this week, Sarah Beth has a great new video. It’s focused on calming anxiety, but even if you aren’t necessarily feeling anxious, it’s just a great calming yoga video. I’m usually a pretty happy-go-lucky, live-life-to-the-fullest kind of person. But right now, I think we can all use anything that helps us enjoy more calm moments.

I’m trying a couple new morning skincare products this week. The first is Balance Me’s Wonder Eye Cream. This product is fine. I’m not going to throw it out, but I’m not super in love with it, either. It’s just your everyday eye cream.

The second is Neogen Dermalogy’s Real Vita C Serum. I actually really like this one. Will probably buy again.

Outfit: I am so excited that it’s spring! I have been trying to get dressed up just a little more than is probably necessary. I’m just a firm believer in at least trying to look your best. Today, I’m wearing one of my favorites! This adorable little wrap dress with the lemons on it! I got this from Stitch Fix.

Breakfast: We still have Amish Friendship Bread coming out our ears, so we’ve been eating that. I made three different varieties this week: I made two loaves of banana, two loaves of chocolate, and two loaves of pumpkin spice. If you’re interested in making your own, check out the recipe over at Tastes of Lizzy T.

Tea: We took a family outing and picked up some tea at Zen Coffee using their curbside delivery. We ordered Lavender Lemonade and Pineapple Palmers in these adorable little double cups. Aren’t they just the cutest things?

Shopping: Last year, my mom gave me a membership to the Book of the Month club for Christmas. LOVED IT. Still loving it. This month, I ordered Valentine by Elizabeth Wetmore. I haven’t read it yet, but I’m really looking forward to it! I also highly recommend you check out the Book of the Month club. They offer a wide variety of genres every month and I have been really impressed with everything I’ve ordered.

Snacks: I received a package of The Big Easy’s Beer Bread Mix from All of Us Old Plantation Soup and Dip as a gift and thought I’d give it a try. It was amazing!! Oh my goodness, we loved it. On the website, it looks really small and dense, but it’s not. It’s the perfect texture and has a wonderful taste – just a little sweet, but not too much. So good. I don’t usually use mixes, but this one is definitely worth buying again.

We also enjoyed a new cocktail I whipped up. Try out this Dr. Cream Chata Cocktail. It’s so good. Deceptively smooth. One was sufficient for me.

Supper: This week, we enjoyed Chicken Burrito Bowls and Roasted Red Pepper Pasta. I also made some Hoisin chicken in the crockpot. This was super easy. Put chicken breasts in the crockpot (I usually put one breast for each person). Cover in Hoisin sauce. Select whatever time works for you – I did four hours on high because I forgot to put this in until 2:00 p.m. Whoopsie. Serve over rice – whatever kind you want. I use regular old-fashioned long grain white rice, but I think most kinds would be fine.

Family Time: We did out part for Takeout Tuesday by grabbing some Ted & Wally’s. This is one of my all-time favorite places in Omaha. If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance I’ve made you go here with me a time…or ten. This time I got the Honey Vanilla Cream Cheese. It was to die for.

Don’t look at my disgusting nails. I have no idea how to do nails and obviously, I’m not getting them done right now.

We also made s’mores around the fire pit.

Evening Routine: I have a thing with all the laundry being folded and put away before we go to bed. I also have a thing with never leaving dishes in the sink over night. I just think it’s gross to wake up to dirty dishes. I don’t know why I’m so weird about it. I just am.

I am still using the Honest face wash that I bought a few months ago, but I have picked up a few new ones that I’m excited to try and compare. I am really looking for a good face wash that will take my makeup off without multiple washes. And I don’t even wear that much makeup, so I’m not sure why I’m struggling to find this. If anyone has any recommendations, I’m all ears.

This week, I read History of Wolves by Emily Fridlund. It was pretty decent. Four stars, I think I gave it on Goodreads. After that, I started The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, which I’m still reading. This is the third book in the Millenium series. I try to read one a month, but think I’m behind. I really don’t know, as most days I don’t even know what day it is anymore. #quarantinelife

And that’s a wrap, folks. Thanks so much for sharing our day with us! Stay safe, everyone!
