A Day in the Lifestyle – April

Hello! And welcome to another day in our beautiful life! I love that you took the time to join us today!

Morning Routine: We started the day by running 2.5 miles. We’ve been running more, so we’re probably going to increase this in the next couple days. We’ll see. Afterwards, I used this great new video from Sarah Beth Yoga as a cool down.

After showering, I chose a super comfy outfit. I’m wearing an Everyday Grateful shirt from good hYOUman and my favorite BoSox pants from Pink, which it looks like you can’t even buy directly from Pink anymore, so that link is actually for Amazon. I’m not even sure they really match, but I’m happy, so that works.

Left my hair long and loose today with organic coconut oil as my only styling product. And a clip I picked up at Walmart at some point over the years.

I’ve also discovered Milk Makeup’s Lip & Cheek. This is a stick you can use as cheek or lip color. I’ve only been using it as cheek color so far, but it’s definitely a keeper. The shade I use is called Werk, which is a dusty rose.

I’m also still loving these Kate Spade Rise & Shine small studs. They go with almost everything and are great to have on hand for days (like today) where I don’t really want to get too (or at all) dressed up, but also want to look somewhat presentable. I also got these from Stitch Fix.

After getting ready for the day, I unloaded the dishwasher, threw in a load of laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, and made my list for the day.

Breakfast: We had basic scrambled eggs this morning. No veggies, nothing additional. Just some basic scrambled eggs and toast.

Tea: We are enjoying the Tea Smith’s Emerald Sun. (The picture is theirs, not mine). This tea is one of our new favorites. It’s perfect for spring and has a very unique fruity taste. It’s not like anything I’ve ever tried before.

Shopping: Sadly, I cracked my teapot this week and had to buy a new one. It’s not like we can go without one around here! I found this super cute aqua tea kettle when putting in my online grocery order at Walmart. I don’t expect it to last a long time, but it will work until I can actually go shopping for one.

Other than that, we have not been doing much shopping around here. I may be making a few Americana decor purchases with Memorial Day and the 4th of July coming up, but nothing has quite caught my eye yet.

Lunch: We had tuna salad sandwiches and tuna melts. My tuna salad is incredibly simple. I just use two cans of tuna, probably about 1/3 cup mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip, if you prefer), and then I chop up some pickles and celery, just to taste. Use like any other sandwich spread. For tuna melts, I just make grilled cheese, but add a couple spoonfuls of tuna salad to the sandwich before frying.

Snacks: Earlier this week, I made a pineapple upside-down cake. I was going to do a post with my recipe, but this recipe from Land ‘O Lakes is the exact same. We also made this to-die-for Pineapple Sangria. I got this recipe from Martha Zepeda, who is a member of one of my favorite online book clubs, Paper & Glam Book Club. Paper & Glam also has an adorable planner shop that you should also check out. Lisa Marie’s designs are some of my favorites.

Supper: We have had some quick and easy meals this week. Some of our favorites are Hamburger Gravy on Toast and Garlic & Butter Pasta. We have baked ham and mashed potatoes planned for this evening and I will be using the leftover ham for Ham ‘n Beans later this week (which will be in a later post).

Evening Routine: I used this “Just Let it Glow” Healthy Glow Sheet Mask and loved it! The Easter Bunny brought these for the girls (and me!), and they really liked them, as well. Bizi loved how great they smell!

As you know, I also try to read every evening, as well. This week, I finished up The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by Stieg Larsson and Glitter by Aprilynne Pike. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest is definitely a 5-star read. It’s the third installment of Larsson’s well-known “Millenium” series. If you’ve never read them, I highly recommend doing so! I’m always late to the party when it comes to books with a lot of hype (e.g. Harry Potter, Twilight, the Hunger Games) because I’d rather wait until the hype dies down and the book is back on the library shelves. Then, I decide if they were really worth all that hype. These were. So good.

Glitter is a young adult (YA) novel, which I tried to remember when deciding how to rate it on Goodreads. It’s obviously not meant to be written as an adult novel. Ultimately, I think I gave it 4/5 stars. It’s good for a fun, quick YA read. And it’s unique. Set in a futuristic kingdom, a teenage girl wants to escape her impending marriage to the king. In order to raise the money she needs to escape, she starts selling a highly addictive drug, Glitter. I read it in a day because it’s pretty entertaining. There is a sequel, Shatter, which I am also planning to read, but the e-book is checked out at our library right now and, of course, the library is closed.

I just started Windfallen by Jojo Moyes last night. This is my first Jojo Moyes novel, and since I’ve been wanting to read her books for years, I’m really looking forward to it.

And that’s a wrap, folks! Thanks again for joining us on another day. As always, please let me know if there are any projects or recipes you’d like to see included.
