A Day in the Lifestyle – April

Hello! And welcome to Day #3417039851094847130 of quarantine/staying home/self-isolation/whatever this is now called.

Morning Routine: As I’ve mentioned before, I’m really trying to keep myself in my morning routine while staying home, and that includes doing my hair and makeup…most days. I’m really liking this highlight from IBY Beauty. I have it in Private Jet (a trial size from Ipsy) and Prosecco. I used to swear by Benefit High Beam Liquid Highlighter – and it’s still a great product – but I think I actually like these better. The only drawback is that they don’t have the staying power of High Beam.

Breakfast: We are still eating the Amish Friendship Bread. We had another baking day this week. Since this makes six loaves of bread every ten days and it’s not exactly the best time for gift-giving (I did give a loaf to a friend and my cousin – both with no-contact exchanges!), I decided to switch it up a bit so my family wasn’t bored. I substituted a large box of chocolate pudding for the vanilla pudding and it turned out great!

Coffee: It’s tradition for me to make “Easter Coffee” every year. This is really just me throwing a Peep in some coffee that I put in an Easter mug. I love Peeps and I think it’s cute, so I guess that’s how it became a tradition. I honestly don’t know.

Shopping: We’ve maybe been doing a little bit of shopping around here…maybe…maybe a lot. March was Bizi’s month for spring shopping (I have three teenage girls, so they have to take turns clothes shopping so we can still do things like eat), so she’s had packages arriving all week…Nike, Adidas, Forever 21, Tilly’s….I think she’s done now, but it’s been fun watching her daily mini-fashion show. Dan’s birthday gifts showed up a little late, but they are here! One of his gifts was a DVD of the Chiefs Super Bowl victory and he has informed us all that we are scheduled to watch the Super Bowl on repeat this Sunday!

I also had some tulips delivered over the weekend that I didn’t anticipate turning out to be so beautiful! Look at these!

Speaking of beautiful things, I was over the moon when my new Naked Reloaded palette from Urban Decay showed up in yesterday’s mail.

Dan and I also ventured out briefly to obtain some essentials, but we were out only as long as necessary, got what we needed and returned home.

Lunch: PB&J, Frozen pizza, or leftovers. Take your pick.

Snacks: Apparently, we really love chocolate chip cookies around here. I voted that we make some Snickerdoodles or some peanut butter cookies, but my kiddos wanted more chocolate chip, so that’s what we made.

Supper: This week, I’ve been making some comfort food. We had hamburger pie (similar to shepherd’s pie, but a quick-and-easy version), corn meat pie, and chili so far this week. (Yes, we have chili a lot around here… Whenever I ask for dinner suggestions, someone always says chili….) I plan on trying my hand at Chipotle Bowls tonight….we will see how that goes. I miss Chipotle.

Family Time: We had a family paint fight. I had this drawer full of paint….and I guess you can see for yourselves where it went from there.

Evening Routine: Planning for the next day is one of the most important parts of my evening routine. This week, I set up my April planner (a little late). As always, I am loving the free printables from Sheena of the Journal. You really should check out her work. I will probably buy her full May set next month.

I am still reading Backlash by Susan Faludi. I was a little hesitant on this one due only to the fact that it was published in 1991. I wasn’t sure how relevant it would be. But, I was wrong and I’m so glad I was! It’s an excellent read. Extremely well written. I highly recommend.

And, that’s a wrap on the day, folks! Thanks for joining us. I hope you all have a beautiful day!
